Hazard Mitigation Planning
Hazard mitigation planning is defined by FEMA as planning that “reduces loss of life and property by minimizing the impact of disasters.” This includes identifying natural disaster risks and vulnerabilities that are likely to impact your community. In doing this we can mitigate and potentially eliminate the damage and recovery efforts required from a disaster.
The University of North Carolina Asheville Hazard Mitigation Plan is approved by FEMA and complies with the requirements of the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000, as contained in 44 CR 201.6
